So much had to be done now that we were at war with Germany and Japan.........draft boards had to be put in full swing all over the country, factories had to be set up to make everything from Planes to Trains, Tanks, Guns, Uniforms.....thousands upon thousands would be entering the service, and military bases to train all of these new recruits had to be put in place. It was a gigantic task......a massive build up of all the armed services and the weaponry of war.

This calendar is still a work in progress, the most recent additions being those things that were happening in the USA and around the World.  I would like to eventually have each day on the calendar linked to something and this is quite a task in that there are about 1222 days from January of 42 to May 7, 1945.

As for the Air Force, it had the monumental task of getting the planes we did have moved from the USA to Great Britain. In January of 1942, mostly patrols were being flown until such time as routes, pilots, and crews could be set up to move the planes overseas.
